For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16

Forever and eternal, these are lofty words and kind of hard to come to terms with. We see life as day to day, and even the longest of our long term plans are measured in years, not “eternity.” The unavoidable truth is that our life will end, and even the most precious of loves will cease at that moment as well, if not before. Or so it seems.

God says we don’t have to die. Death is a result of evil entering into His creation, of our nature corrupted by sin. But God has changed this through Jesus. He died, but then overcame death. His death served the purpose of redeeming us from the evil that had come into the world, and His resurrection was the powerful proof that it had worked! We are forgiven, and death has been changed into life, an eternal life. God did all this because He loves us. He has plans and purposes for all of creation that we can neither know nor understand, but His love is the one thing He has made abundantly clear to us. He wants us to be with Him always, and experience His endless love. Forever and eternal!
