Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2
Wouldn’t it be amazing if God’s thoughts were our thoughts? If we knew His will and purposes, if we could understand like He does? 1 Corinthians 2:14 says: “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”
God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us understand everything we need to know. This is possible because of Jesus coming and living and experiencing the things which we live and experience. When we have ‘the mind of Christ’ it means we see all of our circumstances, all of the situations around us, the people in our lives and the all the good and bad, with the same understanding as Christ. In other words, we see the Lord working in our life for His glory and our good. (And not only our good, but the best!)
We no longer have to reason the way the world does, caught up with selfishness and chasing after pleasures. Instead by faith we understand that God not only provides all we need, but fills us with the pleasure of His presence and love. All the things we may have thought were so important or craved after are either now freely given to us or we clearly see that they aren’t actually important at all. Faith is what changes this because we now rely on what God gives us, on how He provides, and let go of our self-serving desires. Our mind is renewed, for through the Holy Spirit we are connected to the mind of Christ!
