For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. – 2 Timothy 1:7
Do you ever think about being a hero or doing gallant and fearless deeds? Overcoming impossible odds, rescuing someone, standing bravely in the face of danger? We sometimes imagine ourselves this way, like the star of a movie or book, and win adoration and respect for our daring victories.
God says this is exactly who we can be. We are given courage to face problems and obstacles in our daily life, we can be enduring in any circumstance, we can be bold when standing for what is right. But this is a different kind of bravery. This is bravery that comes from knowing God is standing with us. His power is inside us and all around us. We can be bold, not because of our own strength but because we are accompanied by the Creator of all things. Besides His power, He gives us love and self-discipline. We have clarity of thought and purpose through Him. Most of all, our heroic feats are accomplished through love, God’s love in us and that love flowing out to others. Be daring in God’s power, and fearless in His love.
