Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6
How much are we willing to trust? We believe that our lives, even when we leave this earth, are in God’s hands, and yet what about that small thing we have in front of us today?
God understands our frailty, but He wants us to overcome our unbelief. He knows that sometimes we doubt, but He wants us to hope in the things we cannot see. This is because trust is at the very core of loving. We learn to trust God as we love Him more, and as we love Him more, our faith in Him grows. They are tied together, connected and strengthening each other. God wants us to have this kind of a relationship with Him, “with all our heart.” Sincerely, genuinely, as deep as anything within us could ever be. It is that wholehearted trust that begins to drive away the old things within us. It overcomes our self-reliance and we no longer have to try to figure everything out. God continually shows us His love for us, but don’t be discouraged if you think your own love for Him falls short. Learning to trust is part of the journey, and as our faith increases we will see that the things we do become more and more acts of love.
Father in heaven, help me to love you with all of me. I can’t do it on my own, but I can learn from you. To love you is what I want more than anything.
