Do nothing

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. – Philippians 2:3

What worth do you put on someone you love? They become the most valuable thing in your life! Their happiness and needs become foremost. Their success is more important to you than your own. You spend your time and energy on lifting them up in whatever ways you can.

We like to think highly of ourselves, we want the things which we want and we love when we get the glory. Our ambitions and desires are by nature focussed on ourselves, and we always like to be right. But when we put others in the front of our hearts and minds, we begin to lose these selfish ways of thinking and living. Love clears away our self-centeredness as we become centered on others, and their accomplishments begin to bring us joy.

The beauty of this kind of humility is not only the lifting up of others, but their lifting up of us. We all work together for one another. We trade our selfishness for the help of others, as well as helping them. Each of our individual goals and ambitions become group efforts. We accomplish love, and we accomplish much more than any of us could on our own. Do you want to do something? Then do nothing (out of selfish ambition)!
