Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” – Matthew 19:14
Let us be children in how we come to Jesus. Full of crazy belief and optimism, and the joy of innocence mixed with playfulness. Leave your worries, knowing He provides. Run to Him in your fears, knowing He always makes things safe. Ask without a second thought.
There is a reason that God has chosen to present Himself to us as a father. The way that He has designed family and childhood and parenting are all ways to help us understand how He wants us to relate to Him. His love for us is without condition, and even when we fail or He has to teach us a hard lesson, that love is unending. He wants it to cover and encourage us, and to always fill us with comfort and trust.
No wonder it was so important for Jesus to let those little children come to Him. As they gathered around, He must have looked up at His disciples and seen them in the same way. He wanted them to understand that as well. They could truly be themselves and simply trust Him. We can do that too! Through Him we are His children, and part of the kingdom.
