I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart; I will recount all Your wonders. – Psalm 9:1
How many things has God done that stretches our imagination and pushes the boundaries of what we can understand?
Man piles up dirt or concrete and calls it a monument; God speaks and a mountain emerges. Man shoots a rocket into space and launches a satellite; God speaks and the universe appears. Man engineers a nano-transistor; God speaks and quarks and molecules come into existence. Man’s greatest creations are inconsequential compared to God’s.
Yet all of this would be meaningless if God didn’t love us. The universe, every particle and planet, every mountain and ocean — they speak of an all-powerful and imaginative creator. But when God wanted to show His love for us, He didn’t think up a new color or come up with a new atom or spin out a new galaxy. He sent His son to die for us. He gave up all of His power in order to be one of us, and save us. That is the greatest wonder of all.
Every day, every moment we praise Him. His wonders and beauty and creation and imagination, astonish us and fill us with awe. But His love for us outdoes all the rest of His creation, and we are overwhelmed with thankfulness!
