The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. – Psalm 9:9
Fortress. Shelter. Sanctuary. Hideaway. A refuge, a stronghold.
Those are all powerful words for the safety and protection that God provides. But where does He actually take us? Home. The Lord is our home.
God is not a military base that He whisks us away to. He is not a distant castle where we can hide from whatever is after us. He is not a bunker where we crouch down waiting for turmoil to pass. He is our home, where we are safe and protected by the maker of the universe. He is our home, where we are comforted and comfortable. He is our home, where we can live and thrive and be surrounded by our family and by His love.
When you feel crushed and helpless and troubled, just go home.
