Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. – Romans 12:2
Is there anything about yourself you would like to change?
It might be really big or just some small stuff. It could be a bad habit, a pesky sin, or something like anxiety or worrying too much.
Imagine for a moment seeing yourself the way God sees you. He sees all your potential where you may only see your failures. He sees the gifts He has given you, where you may see only your inabilities. We may be filled with discouragement, or puffed up with selfish pride, but He sees us through the lens of His great love for us.
God has a good and perfect plan for us, He even calls it his pleasing will. His plan is for us to love and worship and serve Him, and live a life full of joy and contentment. Rather than leaning on ourselves, He wants us to believe and follow Jesus. Our doubts and fears and selfishness change because we are living by faith.
Romans 12:2 is both an exhortation and a promise. God tells us not to continue old habits or ways of thinking, and this will happen by the renewing of our mind. Only He can do that for us. We cannot reconstruct ourselves, but we believe that God can change us. We trust His plan for us, and grow in our faith in what He can do. We are transformed, not into something different but back into what we were meant to be!
