Your beauty should not come from outward adornment such as braided hair or gold jewelry or fine clothes, but from the inner disposition of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight. – 1 Peter 3:3-4
Beauty is not about how we look, but who we are.
We are constantly presented with what the world says is beautiful — stylish clothes, trendy styles, alluring body types. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look nice, or attractive clothes and accessories. Fine design and creative expression is a gift from God. But we should ask ourselves — are we trying to cover something up, or distract from who we really are? Who are we trying to impress?
God says a gentle and quiet spirit is beautiful to Him. In fact, He says it is precious to Him. We should not be trying to impress anyone with how we look on the outside, and we certainly don’t need to impress God. We don’t need to hide, or distract from who we are. God knows us fully and already loves us more than we can imagine. Let’s wear our gentle, quiet spirits and cover ourselves in His love. Everyone will look great!
