But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth. – Acts 1:8
What is a witness? It is someone who has seen or heard something and is willing to declare what they know.
In the case of being a witness for Jesus, declaring is just the beginning. We demonstrate Him in all we do, not just with words but with actions. We take the message of His love and who He is to everyone, sometimes by speaking and often by showing. We are witnesses at all times, our very lives should be announcing who Jesus is.
But God knows how difficult this is and provides a means of encouragement and strength. We receive power through the Holy Spirit. And in the most amazing way, the Holy Spirit not only enables us, but the way He works within our lives also becomes part of our testimony. Each day we gain new experiences that speak of God’s grace and love, so each day we have more things we can talk about. God fills us with what He has done, and what He continues to do. Although our focal point is always the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and His teachings, every day we encounter new episodes of Him in our life.
When someone loves you deeply, you have continuous stories about them and are always excited to share what they mean to you and what they have done. This is our daily adventure with Jesus, the one who cares for us more than we can ever imagine. We witness His great love, and keep telling others about it!
