“Do not be afraid,” Samuel replied. “Even though you have committed all this evil, do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart. – 1 Samuel 12:20
Do not give in to your guilt and regrets. God’s grace is greater than anything you have done.
We will never be good enough to come to God on our own, so just stop trying. All of us have done wrong, all of us are sinful. There is nothing we can do ourselves to fix this. On our own, we are hopelessly lost.
God is full of love and grace. He is not looking for good deeds or even noble intentions. He is not weighing what we do to see if we have done enough to enter His kingdom. Instead, He freely offers us salvation. Jesus took all our sins, and all we have to do is believe.
Sometimes we get bogged down in thinking about what we have done, in regrets and guilt over our past or present sins. God says to just keep going. Don’t turn aside. Keep trusting. Keep following. Keep serving. Do not be afraid, your sins have all been forgiven.
God wants us to know we are always loved. We follow Him out of gratitude for this, not to earn our salvation. So when we fail, we need to remember it is God who saves and not ourselves. Turn back to His forgiveness, and keep going.
