Meditate on the book
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. – Joshua 1:8
God may speak to us in many ways, but the place we can always go to hear Him is the Bible. We can read about great things He has done, stories of those who trust Him, and instructions He has given us.
The “Book” contains God’s thoughts and deeds, and most importantly it tells us everything we need to know about His love and grace. It encourages us in a special way, because it contains exactly the words that God wanted to give to us, His children. The teachings and conversations of Jesus with His disciples are recorded so that we can continually learn from them. The very words of Jesus!
When we follow His teachings, He brings prosperity to our lives. That doesn’t mean we all find wealth, but it means we are successful in what we do as we follow Him. It means we accomplish those things which we set out to do because of our love for the Lord. His direction and guidance is there as we live each day as His children.
That is why we read it and always keep it “on our lips.” That is why we try to understand and follow what He teaches us. That is why we meditate on the book.
