But Samuel declared: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obedience to His voice? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, and attentiveness is better than the fat of rams. – 1 Samuel 15:22
It can get very complicated to make up for the wrongs you do.
Our sin and disobedience tore away our relationship to God. In order to fix it, God sent His son Jesus to take all of our sins. He had to suffer and die. When He rose from the dead, He proved that we had been forgiven and sin had been overcome. But it was expensive, and we recognize this great cost and continually thank God for His grace and mercy.
All our wrongs have been forgiven. When we stumble and sin God says we can come to Him and confess our sins, and he will cleanse us. But wouldn’t it be better to be in a situation to offer Him praise rather than apologies? Wouldn’t we rather come to Him in obedience than to offer confession?
Our Father loves us to speak to Him no matter what the conversation, but He takes delight when we follow Him. Forgiveness is always there for us, but when we live in obedience it means we are listening carefully to what He says and what Jesus taught us. It is how we show that we love Him.
