Forever and eternal, these are lofty words and kind of hard to come to terms with. We see life as day to day, and even the longest of our long term plans are measured in years, not “eternity.” The unavoidable truth is that our life will end, and even the most precious of loves will cease at that moment as well, if not before. Or so it seems.
Sometimes, believing you are loved is one of the hardest things. Maybe it is because we know ourselves well, we see our failings and failures. Perhaps we feel that even the good things about us are not deserving of being loved.
It might be natural to wonder about the sound of Jesus’ voice, what was it like? Even more than that, what would it have been like to hear the the Son of God begin a teaching by saying “truly, truly”? Jesus looked out at those listening and said, “what I am about to say is not only true but very very important.”
