And we continually thank God because, when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as the true word of God—the word which is now at work in you who believe. – 1 Thessalonians 2:13
Imagine that God has written you a personal note, what would you do with it? Would you treasure it and read it every day, perhaps more than once a day? Or would you hide it away in a drawer somewhere, or toss it in the trash?
The maker of all things has given us a book full of His “notes”. Our creator and loving Father has handed us His words. He promises that they are everything we need to know to have a life full of joy and an eternal life in heaven. Do we read it every day? Or do we hide it away in a drawer somewhere?
Either we believe that God has spoken His words and given them to us, or we don’t. If we don’t, then there is no real meaning to Jesus, there is no way of forgiveness and salvation, and we have no hope for our future. Go with the drawer, or just toss it in the trash.
But if we do believe God, then let us both treasure His word and take it in every day. We have in our hands the wisdom, comfort, and truth of the almighty Creator and our loving Father. His words are filled with power and love. Read what He says, and let it work!
