Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful ways. We do not practice deceit, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by open proclamation of the truth, we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. – 2 Corinthians 4:2
Let your life proclaim the truth of God.
We all need to be open with one another. About our wrongs, about our doubts, about our deceptions, about our secrets. God is not waiting for us to mess up. He is not looking for an “aha” moment or trying to trick us. He just wants us to come to Him in humility and be honest about ourselves.
God knows we are sinners. He knows everything about us. He sent His son Jesus to die for us because He knows we cannot be perfect. We need to be forgiven and changed, and that is what He offers us. He wants to love us and be with us. No secrets. No deception. No trying to hide.
When we do this, even if we are open about our failings, it testifies to God’s truth. It declares His love for us, and it demonstrates His grace. Being honest also allows us to cast off the sins that may still creep into our hearts, and overcome them.
There is no reason to keep anything hidden, God loves and forgives! And that is the very truth that we proclaim!
